Taste and see that the LORD is good.

For as the earth brings forth her bud, and as the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all nations. Isaiah 61:11

The Lord God will.

It is so easy to get weighed down by the ugliness and the pain and the cruelty, but hope springs forth. The enemy is the one who fills our thoughts with despair and accusations. But what is trustworthy is that He is faithful and He is at work to His good purposes of love and restoration.

And my science class is all about seeing. Noticing. And green buds abound, much like this rocky desert in monsoon season. And whether we are listening to tales told by Olympic refugees or a gymnast abandoned by her drug-addicted mother or following Nicole’s Amalfi Coast conversations or heartbreaking through childhood stories drafted by my eighth graders, after death comes life.

Glory be to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, so it is now and so it shall ever be, world without end. Alleluia. Amen.
