Stand in awe, and sin not. Commune with your own heart upon your bed and be still. Selah.

Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the LORD. Psalm 31:24

Blessed be the LORD! for He has shown me the wonders of His love in a besieged city. Psalm 31:21

The Monday Night Ladies had to laugh a little bit at Ann Voskamp’s The Broken Way: “David asks his soul a thousand times why it is so downcast.”

That’s the thing about courage, it is a day-in, day-out sort of thing. And another thing about it, is really you don’t get to funk out ever. If you lose heart and run and open the door to the besieged city even once, the Enemy enters and wrecks havoc.

So courage is each step of faith, each step of following Him through the valleys and onto the high places even when they make me feel more than a bit dizzy. To destroy every argument and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. Again and again, ducking behind the shield of faith, to smack away those flaming darts.

I bless Thee, O most holy God, for the unfathomable love whereby Thou hast ordained that spirit with spirt can meet and that I, a weak and erring mortal, should have this ready access to the heart of Him who moves the stars.

Let me take refuge in the thought that Thou art utterly beyond me, beyond the sweep of my imagination, beyond the comprehension of my mind, Thy judgments being unsearchable and Thy ways past finding out.

O Lord, hallowed be Thy name. Amen. –John Baillie
