Upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53: 6
Considering the person of Jesus Christ. The calling, the obedience, the cost.
Despised. Smitten. Crushed. Pierced. Oppressed.
Out of the anguish of the LORD’s soul He shall see and be satisfied; by His knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities.
This is what it took because I myself am helpless. All the resolve and good intentions in the world cannot save me. And thus, humbly, I receive your great gift.
Our sins are stronger than we are, but You will blot them out.
Almighty and merciful God, in Your goodness may I, being ready both in mind and body, accomplish with a free heart those things which belong to Your purpose; through Jesus Christ my Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen
