Me Too

Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.” And Jesus answering said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he answered, “Say it, Teacher.”  Luke 7: 39, 40

In this tangled story, with the smug and distant religious leader and the weeping prostitute, who indeed was the patient in need of a doctor?

I am.

Jesus is no respecter of persons.  He pauses and notices each one.  The bustling politicos looking for a favor, a powerful warrior, a beloved widow, a discouraged prophet, a Pharisee who dared call him Teacher, and the woman bathing his feet in tears.  Each of us is guilty of self-medication- through political identification, position, community, affirmed expectations, secure rules or love.

Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost.  To meet each one at the point of brokenness.  In the push and shove of the crowds reaching for just that one touch, He notices.  Pause, two, three.  Your sins are forgiven.
